Embaré conquers new export markets and has good prospects for 2021

The company currently exports to 43 countries and plans to open new markets this year.

Export

Embaré, the sixth largest dairy company in Brazil, is present in countries on five continents with its lines of: confectionery and dairy products. Its export catalog includes more than 40 versions of its famous caramels, in addition to products signed by the brand. Camponesa such as UHT milk, cream, condensed milk, dulce de leche and milk drink.

The high quality standard of the industry, which follows international standards, in addition to the continuous work in research and development, allows the company to serve different markets around the globe.

Today, caramels are the company's flagship export, with its complete line being exported – from traditional caramels (small squares), stuffed, toffees, premium caramels to its chewable candies.

Considering the new markets conquered in 2021, Embaré is present in 43 countries. “We work constantly so that our numbers are surpassed and that we have growth in the markets we are already present in, in addition to conquering new territories”, says Felipe Antunes, export manager at Embaré. Recently, the company resumed the markets of India, Bulgaria and Egypt and started to export to Somalia, Mauritania, Algeria and Liberia. It also won Canada's Costco, the second largest retailer in the world, with more than 100 stores in the country and 12 million members (which correspond to 43% of the population that has approximately 28 million inhabitants). “In addition, we are negotiating with the CVS network in the United States and with Costco in South Korea through our local distributors,” adds Felipe.

Aware of opportunities, Embaré participated in February in the main event of the category, Gulfood Dubai. The fair presents the main market trends in the food and beverage sector, in addition to mobilizing opinion makers and specialized media in the Arab market, providing great opportunities for converting contacts into business, especially for buyers from the Middle East and North Africa. On the occasion, the company presented two novelties to the international market: the caramels in the Sugar Free versions and the Fruit Full Splits chewable candy.

According to Felipe, the foreign market is very open in relation to new flavors and products. “In order to reach different audiences more assertively and to expand the options offered, we are constantly working with our distributors to understand which items can be more successful in each of the countries. Flavors, sizes, presentations and other aspects are always evaluated. Aware of this, we are always innovating in the formulation of our products. The new releases, for example, come to meet specific market demands – the new Fruitfull Splits comes with a strong flavor appeal, bringing the indulgence of the fruit mixture. While Caramelo Sugar Free arrives to serve an audience looking for confectionery options that deliver flavor and healthiness.”

For this year, the company is also expected to participate in the Sweets and Snacks fairs in Chicago (United States) in June, Anuga in Cologne (Germany) in October and Yummex (United Arab Emirates) in November.

Dairy export

The company also has good prospects for the dairy line for the year. It recently opened the markets of Bolivia and the Dominican Republic with the export of condensed milk and consolidated the export of milk, cream and UHT milk in Paraguay, when it shipped 228 tons of these products in 2020. The expectation is for a growth of 10 % of this volume in 2021. Condensed milk, milk cream, dulce de leche and milk drinks are exported to Venezuela. In 2020, Embaré shipped 712 tons of dairy products to the country and intends to maintain the pace in 2021.

“Even going through this period of instability due to the pandemic, we see the possibility of working on the dairy line, mainly condensed milk and cream, and we achieved good results in 2020. The perspective is to expand the sale of dairy products in 2021 and be able to maintain the good results achieved in 2020 in the sweets market”, concludes Felipe.
